Debra A. Cooper was an ARCS Scholar at Emory University during the 2010-2013 academic years. After receiving her Ph.D., Dr. Cooper did a postdoc at the University of Texas Medical Branch for 1.5 years where she worked in the Center for Addiction Research focusing on a project studying how the serotonergic system affects vulnerability to cocaine addiction. Dr. Cooper recently started a fellowship with the California Council on Science and Technology as a Science and Technology Policy Fellow. In this role, she works directly with public policy-makers in the California legislature drawing upon her scientific background as necessary throughout the legislative process.
