ARCS members felt very inspired to see the exciting animal research going on at the Emory National Primate Research Center. Dr. Johnson, the Center Director, explained the history of the center and the cutting-edge research in neurodegenerative disorders, AIDS, organ transplantation, TB, and much more. Viewing the primates, and watching them very curiously observing us, was such an amazing experience! Using special feeders, much can be learned about complex social behaviors and stress by monitoring eating patterns. The now-retired chimpanzees drink from squirt bottles just like the football players during a game! Emory was very welcoming to ARCS members. Kudos to the NPRC Team for the important work they do every day to improve the lives of millions!
