Atlanta Chapter ARCS Scholar Alum Training to Become Neurosurgeon

Nathan Rowland was an ARCS Scholar at Morehouse College during the 1996-1998 academic years. Following his Morehouse graduation, he went on to receive several honors and awards during his M.D./Ph.D. studies at Emory University. These included the Medical Scientist Training Program Fellowship, the Individual Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award, the Society for Neuroscience Scholar Program Fellowship, the Woodruff Scholarship, and the Donald R. Townsend, M.D. Scholarship.

Dr. Rowland is currently a resident in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center and plans to graduate in 2015. He will then complete his training at the University of Toronto where his focus will be functional neurosurgery, treating patients with movement disorders such as Parkinson's Disease.
