Skylar Settles

First Year ARCS Scholar

Skylar earned a B.S. in Biology from Purdue University where her love for research began through studying heat resistance in Salmonella enterica. During her undergraduate experience she also worked as a laboratory intern in both bioanalytical and in vivo laboratories at Inotiv, further solidifying her interest
in the research industry and ambition to pursue graduate school. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Georgia working toward a Ph.D. in Genetics studying pluripotent stem cell regulation in a freshwater flatworm, the planarian. Outside of her graduate studies, she enjoys going on walks with her Dalmatian and reading fantasy or mystery novels.
