I am so grateful that Sara Jean stepped in last year to do an encore term as President of the ARCS Atlanta chapter.  She was incredibly brave to follow Leslie Petter and gave me a year to learn more about our amazing organization.   I’m truly excited to serve as the next President even though I still have much to learn. Our mission seems even more relevant than ever.  If the pandemic taught us anything it was to be grateful to the scientists that bring us lifesaving and life improving breakthroughs. When I speak with the young scientists we support, I am always more hopeful about the future.  The enthusiasm they have for their work and the possibility for a better tomorrow is compelling.

I am also excited that my new position will allow me to work with so many of our amazing members.  As a group, our members are the most dedicated, hardworking, and just plain interesting women I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. They have such incredible life experiences. Whether it’s extensive professional experience or years of volunteer responsibilities, our members bring an enormous range of talents to the organization.  I know my job will be made easier because of this dedicated group of volunteers. Having the pleasure of working with our talented board will be one of the highlights of this job.

In the coming years, I hope to have the opportunity to get to know every member and I welcome everyone to get involved.  Whether you would like to serve on the board, help identify and welcome new members or come to more education events, we have ways for every member to be involved, stay connected and contribute to ARCS Atlanta.
