One of the most exciting parts of our 2024 Fall Party was the auction of six items donated by several of our members and supporters -- a fabulous case of wine, a week at a house in the mountains, an elegant French picnic, a wine tasting, dinner at Lyla Lila, and the makings for an effortless cocktail party. We have an update on two of these wonderful events - and pictures!
Afternoon in Provence
The elegant French picnic donated by Leslie Petter and Suzy Wasserman was a popular auction item at our 2024 Fall Party. The “Afternoon in Provence" took place at Leslie and Skip Petter’s house on Sunday, November 3rd, the first slightly chilly day of an unusually warm month. As French wine and champagne flowed, the friendship was warm, the conversation was lively, and the French fare was delicious. Suzy and Leslie lovingly prepared all the food for this French picnic. Guests were greeted with a French 75 and appetizers of crisp gougères and radishes on toast. Six courses (all served on antique Limoges) followed on the covered veranda: salmon rillettes on toasted baguettes, quiche made with white wine and shallots, a salad of fresh spring greens, aromatic cheeses and for dessert, profiteroles drizzled with chocolate sauce. The meal ended with a rich French roast coffee and more champagne! Guests changed seats midway through the feast, so they had the fun of enjoying everyone’s company. A special thank you to the ten generous bidders whose contributions will support our ARCS Atlanta endowment. Finally, thank you to the hostesses and their helpful husbands, Leslie and Skip Petter and Suzy and Steve Wasserman.
Wine Dinner
On January 8th eight lucky winners assembled at Carolynn Cooper’s house for the wine tasting they purchased at the fall cocktail party. The group started with a French champagne accompanied by brie cheese and fig spread along with caviar deviled eggs. This was followed by two white wines with both a tomato and burrata salad and a shrimp with spicy slaw. The two red wines were paired with Greek meatballs and tzatziki sauce and beef tenderloin with rosemary mashed potatoes. The group finished with Gewurztraminer along with dessert. Thank you to our new member Barbara Bing, her husband, Stuart Pliner along with Carolynn and Pratap who chose the wines and prepared all the food. Everyone said they hoped it would be on the auction list next time. Cheers!
