In October 2024, ARCS members and their guests had the rare opportunity to see the private collection of Sue and John Wieland at The Warehouse in the Westside District. This was an especially meaningful field trip for ARCS members, as many of us remember Sue Wieland as a friend and former ARCS member. Debbie Liss opened the tour with her warm recollections of Sue Wieland.
The collection includes painting, photography, sculpture, installation art, and works on paper focusing on images and ideas of house and home, reflecting John Wieland’s career in homebuilding. At the end of our tour, we were treated to an elegant and delicious lunch, giving us a chance to visit with each other and to discuss the many intriguing and thought-provoking works of art.

"I can only begin to express how grateful I am for the freedom to pursue an independent line of research without having to worry about how I will pay for the necessary lab supplies or training. This award is allowing me to answer broader and more valuable questions than I had previously thought possible... Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and belief in my potential as a scientist."
