The SCAD Experience: ARCS Atlanta Explores Creativity, Innovation, and Applied AI
On March 25, forty ARCS Atlanta members enjoyed a private SCAD Experience at SCAD Atlanta, touring the university’s thriving Midtown campus in two groups before gathering for a SCAD‑hosted luncheon. The visit offered an inspiring look at why SCAD is now ranked Number 1 in the U.S. for Creative Careers and how its programs align closely with the ARCS mission of supporting scientific and technological excellence.
Members learned that SCAD offers 29 STEM‑focused programs—including animation, architecture, UX, visual effects, industrial design, immersive reality, and design for sustainability—each blending creativity with engineering, technology, and scientific inquiry. Faculty and students shared how these disciplines are shaping real‑world solutions that touch everyday life.
A highlight of the day was touring SCAD’s pioneering Bachelor of Design in Applied AI program. Members visited the AI labs and saw student work demonstrating how intelligent systems, immersive environments, and interactive agents are being designed with creativity, responsibility, and human‑centered ethics at the core. SCAD leaders emphasized the importance of balancing innovation with empathy and cultural awareness—an approach that resonated deeply with ARCS members.
The luncheon program underscored the shared values between SCAD and ARCS Atlanta. Both organizations champion brilliant young people who want to change the world, whether through scientific discovery or creative problem-solving. The SCAD Experience left members inspired by the possibilities at the intersection of art, science, and innovation—and energized by the natural alignment between SCAD’s forward‑looking programs and ARCS Foundation’s longstanding commitment to nurturing the next generation of thinkers, doers, researchers, and makers.
