From the President’s Desk: Frances Swensson
And we’re off….
The Lazy Days of Summer are short-lived for our chapter!
In fact, well before the leaves begin to change color and cover our lawns with thick layers of red, yellow, and brown, our members have set a busy pace of activity. Members spent many hours making plans for our Fall Cocktail party, one of our favorite events where members just spend time with one another and invite spouses or partners to join us. This year, we included our mini-auction where several members’ donations allowed us to make a contribution to the Endowment of over $8,500. Please look for the fun photos in this issue of this gathering that Betts Love and Suzette Brading curated for our members!
Also, clipping a good pace are the Board members who are working together to get all the details ready for the Scholar Awards Celebration (SAC)! From the University Relations VP’s to the Scholars Chairs and the Funds Development Committee, they have been very busy making sure our scholars are selected and prepared to participate at our SAC event on November 11th! Angelle Hamilton and Suzanne Sullivan, as SAC Chair and Chair-elect, have designed an exceptional event with their team of ARCS ATL members that will celebrate 250 Years of American Science, its many scientific achievements and Honor Those Who Advance It. If you have not registered to attend, please visit the website and click on the Scholar Awards Celebration event: November 11th at Piedmont Driving Club, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm.
Many times the President’s Letter may sound repetitive as I continue to laud and praise the many members who give countless hours to support our organization’s mission. There are so many worthy organizations that are looking for good volunteers and our members continue to choose ARCS ATL to share their time and talents. Our chapter’s accomplishments are a result of our collective dedication to the organization and to our scholars. ARCS ATL members say yes when asked to serve and as a result, we continue our history of supporting the best and brightest scholars in Georgia guaranteeing a brighter future for our country.
See you on November 11th at the SAC!
Frances
